Suspect in Custody in Maine on Unrelated Charges
Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley and Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis announce that an arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect responsible for the August homicide of 29 year old Erica Field in Mattapan.
On Tuesday, December 8, 2009, Suffolk prosecutors approved an arrest warrant sought by Boston Police homicide detectives charging Amos “Ace” Don, 23, of Boston with Murder in the August 25th shooting death of Erica Field, 29, of Lewiston, Maine.
As the result of an extensive investigation and community cooperation, detectives were able to identify Amos Don as the individual responsible for Ms. Field’s death. Don is currently incarcerated in Maine on charges unrelated to this shooting incident.
On Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at approximately 7:10pm, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of 105 Norwell Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located two individuals inside a motor vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims, Erica Field, was pronounced at the scene. The second victim, a male, was transported to the Boston Medical Center and treated for a non-life threatening injury. .
Investigators will now seek to rendite Amos to Massachusetts, where he faces a murder charge for Ms. Field\’s shooting death and an additional count of armed assault with intent to murder for allegedly firing on a male victim who survived his injuries.
Lastly, Commissioner Davis and District Attorney Conley expressed their appreciation to members of the Lewiston Police Department for their assistance throughout the investigation.
