DAILY INCIDENTS FOR THURSDAY, MARCH 26, 2009

Potential Fight Ended with Two Armed Suspects ArrestedYesterday afternoon, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) arrested suspect, David Arias, 17, of Roxbury and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. In addition, officers arrested suspect, Eric L. Ortiz, 17, of Roxbury and charged him with Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.
The arrests were preceded when officers were at the intersection of Amory and Green Streets observed two groups about to get into an altercation outside of the Green St. MBTA station. Officers observed one young man removed his sweater and place both hand s in the air and get into a fighting stance. Officers immediately exited their marked police vehicle to look into this situation and while doing so heard one member of the group exclaim an expletive at the other group. Officers spoke to the young man who was yelling and he explained to the officers that one member of the other group had put his hand in his pocket and pointed it in his direction.
Officers, believing that there might be a firearm involved responded to the other group and pat frisked the two above suspects. Suspect Arias was found in possession of a loaded firearm, while suspect Ortiz was found in possession of a brass knuckle.
Taggers Tagged and Arrested
Last night around 7:15PM, officers from District A-7 (East Boston) arrested suspects, Christian Maldonado, 17, of Chelsea, Joshua I. Barrientos, 17, of Chelsea, two 15-year-old male juveniles from Chelsea, and a 16 year-old male from Revere and charged them with Trespassing, Damage to Property by Graffiti.
Officers assigned to the Safe Street Team in the Eagle Hill section were on patrol in the area of Bremen and Saratoga Streets underpass when they noticed the suspects underneath the bridge. Officers were alerted to this group due to a high number of complaints by residents and business owners about graffiti in this area. Officers responded to the area underneath the bridge and as they walked down the embankment were immediately struck by the strong odor of spray paint and then observe the suspects with spray paint cans in their hands. The suspects immediately dropped the cans when they saw officers approaching.
After the suspects were placed under arrest, officers recovered nine cans of spray paint, and noted that al of them had paint on their hands.
One More Gun Taken Off the Streets
At approximately 8:32PM last night, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the intersection of Crawford and Humboldt Streets for three males fighting. While en route, officers were advised that one of the three males, described as wearing a white t-shirt and black jeans, was in possession of a gun.
On arrival of one of the first units, the described suspect with the gun walked away from the group and fled the scene down an alley. Officers immediately proceeded down the alley and there caught the suspect coming from behind some dumpsters. The suspect was detained pending further investigation into the allegation that he had a gun. Officers then went to the area behind the dumpster that the suspect had been seen coming from, and there found a loaded semi-automatic gun.
The suspect, Kwmaine Davis, 18, of Dorchester was then arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Being an Armed Career Criminal.
