Today Boston Police apprehended 19 year old Gorio “Mikey” Lopez of Dorchester. Lopez was identified by Boston Police homicide detectives as the individual responsible for the shooting death of 32 year old Shoughan Morgan on March 11, 2009. Investigators sought and were granted an arrest warrant for Lopez shortly after the incident. This morning Boston Police took Lopez into custody after he surrendered relative to the arrest warrant.On Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at approximately 2:10am, Officers assigned to Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain), responded to 43 Mozart Street, third floor, for a report of gunshots. The caller stated two males were heard arguing prior to hearing the shots being fired.
Officers located Shoughan Morgan suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Mr. Morgan was pronounced on the scene.
Lopez is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury district Court this afternoon.
