After Hours Party Results in Gun ArrestYesterday morning, Sunday, February 8, 2009 around 2:30AM, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) and B-3 (Mattapan) arrested suspect, Desric D. Baker, 34, of Dorchester at 396 Seaver Street in Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Discharging a Firearm within 500’ of a Dwelling.
The investigation leading to the arrest of the suspect started around 2:30AM when officers from District B-3 responded to 26 Glenarm St. in Dorchester for a fight. On arrival, officers observed a group of about fifteen males outside that location arguing and pushing each other getting ready to fight. The group dispersed and stopped arguing when officers arrived and got out of their cruiser. Officers, shortly after all the parties to the argument got in their cars and left, learned that the group was heading to an after hours party at 396 Seaver Street.
Officers fearing further confrontation between the groups responded to 396 Seaver Street. At 396 Seaver St. officers heard loud music and found a number of people exiting and entering the basement entrance. Officers then went and spoke with the person having the party and directed him to disperse all the partygoers as it was late, the previous fight and the fact that the street was blocked due to partygoers being illegally parked.
While assisting with the crowd leaving the party, officers heard a gunshot come from the rear of the building and immediately ran to the rear where they observed several people standing in a rear stairwell. Officers after asking if any of the individuals were hurt then noticed that one individual, the suspect, attempted to walk away going up the stairs. Officers then noticed that the suspect was bleeding from his left hand, and that the spot where he had been standing had several drops of blood. Officers then asked the suspect to step down in order to conduct pat frisk of all the individuals that had been found in the rear hallway.
During a subsequent pat frisk of all the individuals that were found in the hallway, officers recovered a loaded semi-automatic firearm from the suspect. The suspect was transported to the hospital for treatment a gunshot wound to the thigh and two cuts to the hand. The suspect was treated for his injuries, released from the hospital, and transported to the district for booking.
Public Exposure Lands Suspect Behind Bars
Last night around 5:42PM, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to497 Boylston St./Borders Books for a larceny in progress. En route to the call, officers were advised that a store employee had followed the suspect into Filene’s department store.
On arrival, officers were able to quickly locate the suspect based on the suspect descriptions provided. Officers stopped the suspect to conduct a threshold inquiry, and while talking to the suspect were approached by a witness from the store. The witness then informed officers that he had not called for a larceny but rather because the suspect had exposed himself while riding on the store escalator. The victim further elaborated that the suspect while riding the escalator from the second floor to the first, removed his pants, fully exposing himself and started urinating. It should be noted that the store was full of customers, some of whom were children when the suspect engaged in this behavior.
The suspect, Leonard J. Daigneault, 51, of Melrose was arrested and charged with Open and Gross Lewdness.
Off Duty…but Always Observant
On Sunday, February 8, 2009, at approximately 01:19AM, an off duty BPD officer was traveling on Woodrow Ave when he observed two suspicious males standing by a parked van. The off duty officer gained a position in order to monitor the suspects. The suspects were observed entering the vehicle before noticing the officer’s presence.
The off duty officer requested assistance and approached the suspects. The suspects fled on foot and the officer gave chase. Both suspects were ultimately apprehended.
The officer was able to locate the owner of the parked van who informed him that two pairs of shoes were missing from his vehicle.
Officers arrested Michael Hall, 18, of Boston, Christian Jones, 18, of Boston on the charges of Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle (Night) and Larceny from a Motor Vehicle.
Officers Catch Three for B&E
On Monday, February 09, 2009, at approximately 12:18AM, officers assigned out of District B-3 (Mattapan), responded to 880 Cummins High Way for a report of a Breaking & Entering in progress.
Upon arrival, officers entered the apartment building and knocked on the victim’s door. While doing so, officers observed the door to be damaged, for it had a long crack across the bottom portion. One of the residents of the apartment was holding ice over his eye while speaking with a 911 operator on the phone. Officers learned that three males kicked in the victim’s door and assaulted the residents of the apartment over money that was owed them by the victims. The suspects fled the apartment when they observed one of the victims call 911. While leaving, one of the suspects stated, “you better not be calling the cops”.
Officers were able to locate three suspects in the next building where they were positively identified by the victims. Once in custody, one of the suspects stated, “I will kill you, I’m not going to be locked up forever”.
Officers arrested James Cromartie, 22, of Boston, William Lightfoot, 18, of Boston and a male juvenile, 16, of Boston on the charges of Breaking & Entering (night), Assault & Battery to Collect a Loan.
