HOW NOT TO BEHAVE AS A COLLEGE STUDENT IN BOSTONPARTY #1:
At about 2:00am, on Sunday, October 5, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) and Northeastern University responded to a radio call for a loud party in the area of 24 Westland Avenue in Boston. On arrival, officers confirmed the presence of a large party at the above address. Officers spoke to the legal tenant of the apartment who admitted to officers that he was the one responsible for the party. Officers observed several beer cans strewn throughout the location. When officers asked the legal tenant if any of his guests were under 21 years of age, he stated he wasn’t sure. Officers discovered several individuals under 21 years of age. The legal tenant of the apartment was given a summons to appear in court for Procuring Alcohol for Minors and Being the Keeper of a Disorderly House. Northeastern University Police, promising additional disciplinary action, took the names of all Northeastern students attending the party.
PARTY #2:
At about 12:34am, on Sunday, October 5, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) and Northeastern University responded to a radio call for a loud party in the area of 73 Gainsborough Street. On arrival, officers could hear loud music coming from the apartment in question. When officers knocked on the door, officers heard a loud voice instructing people inside to be quiet as they exited the premise. Officers then heard a large number of people running towards the backdoor. When the door was finally answered, officers spoke to the legal tenant of the apartment. The legal tenant stated that he and his roommate were the ones responsible for the party. Both individuals were given a summons to appear in court for Procuring Alcohol for Minors and Being the Keeper of a Disorderly House. Northeastern University Police, promising additional disciplinary action, took the names of all Northeastern students attending the party.
PARTY #3:
At about 1:00am, on Saturday, October 4, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) were on patrol in the area of 650 Columbus Ave when they observed a large group of young people drinking what appeared to be alcohol in public in front the above address. When officers exited their cruiser, officers could hear loud music coming from the above location. Officers located the apartment responsible for the loud music and knocked on the door. When the door was opened, officers observed over two hundred party-goers inside the location. Officers instructed all those attending the party that the party was over and the premise needed to be vacated. Officers observed multiple beer cans and bottles of liquor (gin, vodka, rum, whiskey) scattered throughout the location. While officers were in the process of vacating the location, officers were able to detect the odor of what smelled like marijuana. A search of the location enabled officers to locate an individual smoking marijuana.
Officers arrested Joel Hart, 20, of Boston and charged him with the Possession of a Class D Substance (Marijuana) and the Unlawful Possession of Alcohol. Offices also arrested Ryan Water, 20, of Boston and charged him with Unlawful Possession of Alcohol.
