PURSE SNATCHER ARRESTED IN ROXBURYAt about 4:10am, on Monday, September 29, 2008, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for larceny at 135 Dudley Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that she fell asleep in the lobby of the above location. When she awoke, her purse was gone. A search of the area enabled officers to locate an individual carrying a purse in the area of the Dudley MBTA Station. Upon looking inside the purse, officers discovered personal papers (credit cards, etc) belonging to the victim. Officers arrested Kent Riley, 44, of Roxbury and charged him with Larceny (Pick Pocket).
ARMED ROBBER ARRESTED IN JAMAICA PLAIN
At about 8:30pm, on Sunday, September 28, 2008, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to radio call for an assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the area of 225 Centre Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that he was on his way home from work when he was approached by an unknown black male. The victim then stated that the unknown black male pulled a knife on him and tried to rob him. According to the victim, the suspect was a 5’6” black male with a light complexion, about 140-150 pounds, wearing a green & white baseball cap, white T-shirt, and jeans. The victim also stated the suspect was on a bicycle. According to the victim, the suspect approached him and asked to use his cell phone. When the victim refused, the suspect showed a knife and stated, ”You better give it up.” The victim says, at this point, he ran back to Jackson Square T station and called for help. A search of the area enabled officers to locate an individual matching the description of the suspect. After the victim positively identified the suspect, officers arrested William Mejia, 18, of Roxbury and charged him with Armed Assault with Intent to Rob, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (knife).
PICTURE TAKER ARRESTED DOWNTOWN
At about 2:43am, on Monday, September 29, 2008, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for fight in the area of 266 Commercial Street. On arrival, officers were approached by a female who stated that she was sitting in her double-parked car awaiting Triple ‘A’ when a white male approached her driver-side window and began taking pictures of her. As a result, the female yelled at the suspect, telling him to leave her alone. According to the victim, the suspect, still taking pictures, then, moved to the rear of her car in order to take a picture of the car’s license plate. At this point, the suspect began swearing at the victim. When a bystander intervened, the suspect yelled, “I’m trying to protect the North End.” By the time police arrived, the suspect had left the area. In short time, officers located the suspect. When officers approached the suspect, the suspect began yelling and swearing at the officers. When the suspect, after being warned, refused to lower his voice, officers arrested John McGinnis, 44, of Canton and charged him with Disturbing the Peace.
