FROM THE GLASS CASE TO A CELL WITH BARSAround 9:21pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan and Dorchester) were on patrol in the area of Morton St. and Woolson St. when they observed an individual know to them to have an active warrant.
Officers exited their cruiser to initiate an investigation by speaking with the suspect when they observed an individual running from the direction of Morton St. towards their location being chased by a Walgreen’s employee. Officers stopped this individual and learned that he had just shoplifted a number of items from the Walgreen’s Pharmacy located at Morton and Norfolk Streets. Officers learned that the suspect had asked store employees to open a glass case to look at some video players, and when they did, he grabbed two items from the case and fled from the store.
Suspect, Dennis R. Willis, 40, of Mattapan was arrested and charged with Shoplifting over $200.00.
MULTI-AGENCY EFFORT NETS TWO ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS
Last night around 10:30pm, officers from District D-14 (Allston and Brighton) responded to 12 Kingsly St. in Brighton for a person stabbed.
On arrival, officers met with the victim who reported that he was just robbed. The victim stated that he was approached by two males while walking on Western Ave. toward North Harvard Street. The victim reported that the suspects surrounded him and demanded the victim’s I-Pod and wallet. Per victim, he handed over his I-Pod to the suspects after telling them that he had no money and then fled from them. Officers received a description of the suspects from the victim, and their direction of flight and then broadcast it to Boston Police Dept. officers as well as Cambridge Police Dept. officers.
Based on the broadcast, officers from Cambridge P.D. stopped two individuals matching suspect descriptions on Western Ave. in Cambridge. The suspects attempted to flee once stopped but were eventually stopped and placed under arrest. After placing the suspects under arrest, officers located another victim who had been attacked and stabbed by the one of the two suspects.
Officers arrested suspects, Dorian Gailliard, 17, of Roxbury and Giovanni Duran, 17, of Boston and charged them with Armed Robbery, and Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon: knife.
HOW NOT TO BEHAVE AFTER THE BRUINS GAME – TAKE I
At about 10:23pm, on Tuesday, April 16, 2008, an officer performing a paid detail outside the Bruins’ game responded to a radio call for an assault in progress in the area of Causeway and Friend Streets. On arrival, officer located a semi-conscious individual lying in the street and bleeding from what appeared to be a laceration to the head. According to the victim (a self-admitted Canadiens’ fan), he was walking down the street celebrating the Canadiens victory over the Bruins when two individuals attacked him. Witnesses stated that one of the suspects was wearing a #41 Jason Allison Bruins’ jersey, while the other was wearing a blue running jacket. Witnesses say that both suspects punched and kicked the victim. In short time, officers located the suspect wearing the #41 Jason Allison Bruins’ jersey and the suspect wearing the blue running jacket.
Officers arrested Patrick O’Brien, 21, of Winchester and Jared Callen, 21, of Winchester and charged both with Assault & Battery By Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Foot). The victim was transported to Mass General Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
HOW NOT TO BEHAVE AFTER THE BRUINS GAME – TAKE II
At about 9:30pm, on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, an officer performing paid detail inside the Boston Garden for the Bruins game responded to a call for a fight at the conclusion of the game. On arrival, officers observed a fight between a fan wearing Bruins apparel and a fan wearing Montreal Canadiens apparel. As officers were in the process of separating the combatants, an individual wearing a Bruins jersey pulled at one of the officer’s shoulders in an effort to keep the officer from breaking up the scuffle. When the officer turned around in an effort to confront the individual, the individual quickly became belligerent. When the officer attempted to handcuff the suspect, a physical altercation ensued. In an effort to get the suspect to comply, officers sprayed the suspect with Oleoresin Capsicum or OC spray. After being sprayed with OC, the suspect did comply.
Officers arrested Matthew Benoit, 24, of Stoneham and charged him with Assault & Battery and Disturbing a Public Assembly.
