C-6 Drug Control Unit Recovered a Firearm and Drugs in South Boston

At about 2:30 PM, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, members of the Drug Control Unit of District C-6 (South Boston) arrested Anderson Estevez, 33, of Hamilton, on firearm and drug charges.

Officers were conducting an ongoing drug investigation in the area of 710 East Broadway Street when they observed a motor vehicle back into a parking spot. Officers observed the operator to be speaking on the phone, and a few minutes later, an unknown individual approached the vehicle.

The individual entered the passenger side of the vehicle, and the two males engaged in conversation. Officers observed both parties to shake hands, and the passenger exited the vehicle. Officers believed that a street level drug transaction had occurred.

Officers approached the individual walking from the vehicle, and identified themselves as Boston Police officers. Officers advised the suspect of the reason for the stop, and recovered cocaine from his pants pocket.

Officers radioed this information to responding officers who were able to stop the motor vehicle in the area of E Street and Broadway. Officers approached the vehicle, and requested the operator to roll down his window, which he refused. After multiple requests, the operator rolled down his window, and officers observed him reaching towards his waistband.

The operator stated to officers that he had a license to carry and a firearm was inside the center console. The operator was requested to exit the vehicle, and was placed into handcuffs. As officers searched the suspect, they recovered two plastic bags containing cocaine. Officers recovered a firearm from inside the vehicle which was later determined to be a Sig Sauer 9mm with nine rounds in the magazine.

Estevez was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, improper storage of a firearm, distribution of class B, and possession with intent to distribute class B. He is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.

The other suspect was summonsed to court for possession of class B.
