Homicide Unit

About 6:00 PM on Sunday, 07/13/14, Officers responded to a radio call for a found body at 1542 Columbus Avenue. An unknown female lying nude in a supine position in an advanced state of decomposition. The body was located in the wooded area along the fence line adjacent to 1542 Columbus Avenue.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on the victim, Ms. Pippin Roe, DOB 11/09/1974. On Thursday, January 15, 2015, after reviewing additional investigative documents, Doctor\’s determined the manner of death to be homicide and the cause would remain pending.
As a result of an ongoing death investigation by the Boston Police Homicide Unit, statements from witnesses known to the Commonwealth, surveillance footage and statements from the defendant Ritcher Baez, who stated post Miranda; he initially denied assaulting the victim and on the second interview admitted that after verbal and physical altercation in the immediate area where the body was located, he assaulted the victim causing her to become unconscious. In addition, he took custody of the victims\’ personal belonging and threw them in a nearby dumpster, located in the Academy Homes Housing Development. The defendant did by such assault and beating kill the victim, Pippin Roe. Therefore, we are requesting an arrest warrant subsequently charging the defendant, Ritcher Baez with Murder, Chapter 265 sec.1.
On Friday, 06/20/2014 at about 5:20am, Officers responded to a radio call for a fight located at Cambridge/Joy St. As officers were in route they were updated by operations that the victim was suffering from a large laceration to his head area.
Officers arrived on scene and were directed to 151 Cambridge St. where the victim was lying on the ground being treated by Boston Fire. Witnesses observed an altercation in front of the Bank of America ATM. As witnesses walked towards the incident they observed the suspect (Roger Morris) push the victim (Edward Lawn) to the ground. As the victim (Edward Lawn) was lying on the ground in a defenseless state they observed Roger Morris kick him in face multiple times. A witness immediately stepped in between the two and was able to pull Roger Morris away from Edward Lawn. Officers arrived briefly after and immediately placed Roger Morris in handcuffs. As officers were putting the Edward Lawn in the back of the transport vehicle he was telling officers he was attacked. At this point Officers did inform Roger Morris of his Miranda rights which he stated he understood. Roger Morris was transported to A-1 for processing and to be charged with Assault and Battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
The victim Edward Lawn, born on 6/9/1946 was transported to MGH in critical condition and pronounced dead. Cause of death to be blunt force trauma and the manner of death a homicide.
Subsequent to further investigation a Suffolk Count Superior Court Warrant was issued charging Roger Morris with Manslaughter in the death of Edward Lawn. On November 18, 2014 Roger Morris was arrested on that warrant.
On July 31, 2014 at about 6:56pm Mikesha Coln called 911 requesting help with an alleged abusive boyfriend.
Prior to the arrival of police Coln called 911 again to say that she had stabbed her boyfriend and that he was not breathing. Emmanuel Jeudi [Coln\’s boyfriend] was discovered in the hallway outside of Coln\’s apartment by police and emergency medical personnel suffering from a single stab wound and not breathing. He was declared non-viable by emergency personal. After being advised of her Miranda Rights Coln gave an audio/video recorded statement to Detective Donlon and Detective Kenney in which she admits to having stabbed Jeudi to death while defending herself from an alleged physical assault by Jeudi.
The District Attorney\’s Office in conjunction with an investigation conducted by the Boston Police Homicide Unit concluded that this is a case of self-defense and no criminal charges will be brought against Coln. Evidence was presented to a Suffolk County Grand Jury and at the conclusion of that investigation the District Attorney determined that \”this was a case of a domestic violence victim protecting herself against serious injury or worse at the hands of her abuser inside her home.\”
As such the death of Emmanuel Jeudi should be exceptionally cleared.
Johnnie Bonnie, was charged and indicted by a Suffolk County Grand Jury for the Evens Archer Homicide, and was subsequently arraigned for said charge in Suffolk Superior Court on Wednesday, December 10th, 2014. Said suspect is currently being held at the Suffolk County House of Corrections at South Bay on unrelated charges, and he has not been formally booked by the Boston Police Department for the murder.
On (Sunday) June 29, 2014 at approximately 1:50am Archer Evens was shot and killed while in the rear of 5A Castle Court, South End. He was transported to the hospital for life threatening injuries and died on July 23, 2014. Pursuant to the ongoing investigation and Suffolk County Grand Jury investigation relative to the death of George Sanchez outside of 5 Ames St. on 09/21/14, the person of Freidy \”Tio\” Baez, described suspect, has been positively identified by witnesses known to the Commonwealth, via Boston Police photographic arrays as well as past historic affiliations, as being the person who stabbed and killed George Sanchez outside his residence. As a result of the aforesaid, an arrest warrant for suspect Baez will be sought in Dorchester District Court on Wednesday, December 3rd 2014. Said warrant to include the criminal charge of Murder.
On September 21, 2014 at approximately 12:04am, victim later identified as George Sanchez was stabbed and killed at 5 Ames Street, Mattapan. A warrant charging Paulo Rosa with the murder of Audilla Daveiga was issued. Paulo Rosa died prior to his apprehension on the warrant.
On (Saturday) November 8, 2014 at approximately 4:05pm Officers responded to 45 Bowdoin Street and discovered the body of victim Audilla DaVeiga non-viable in her apartment bedroom. After further investigation homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the charge of murder for suspect Paulo Rosa, the victim’s live in boyfriend. After an extensive search of the suspect, investigators received information by the Massachusetts State Police that suspect’s vehicle was located by Route 195 East and his body nearby in the woods. Keith Williams has been arrested for the murder of Dawnn Jaffier.

The investigation determined that Jordan Chinapoo died while in the commission of an armed felony. The person determined to be responsible for killing Jordan Chinapoo was found to be acting in lawful self defense.
On Wednesday, January 15, 2014 about 9:24am, Officers responded to 85 Esmond Street in Mattapan and found Jordan Chinapoo suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and non viable. 12/29/2014 11:00 AM: About 9:00am Monday December 29, 2014 members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit did arrest Aquiles Perez by virtue of straight warrant issued out of Roxbury District Court. Warrant issued on 12/29/2014 for: 265/1 Murder
Suspect transported to the Boston Police Homicide Unit. Afterwards the suspect was transported to Area B-2 for booking. Warrant unit notified.
12/27/2014 07:39 PM: As a result of an on-going investigation by the members of the Boston Police Homicide Unit and the Suffolk County District Attorney\’s Office into the Homicide of Rafael Guzman, Aquiles Perez has been identified as the person who assaulted and beat the victim, Rafael Guzman by means of a knife and by such assault and beating did kill the victim (Rafael Guzman). The investigation included numerous witness interviews along with the recovery of forensic evidence and video surveillance of the surrounding area. In addition, the suspect was identified through a photographic array by a witness known to the Commonwealth. Therefore an arrest warrant will be sought, charging Aquiles Perez with MGL\’s (Murder) Ch. 265 Sec.1.
01/09/2015 03:16 PM: Nights of the Homicide Unit conducted an investigation into the homicide of Jose Maldonado, and as a result of the investigation evidence was presented to the Suffolk County Grand Jury. On November 14, 2014 the Suffolk County Grand Jury indicted Both Ishmael Douglas and Raymond Arroyo Jr.for the murder of Jose Maldonado. Ishmael Douglas is in custody in the state of Maine, Raymond Arroyo is at large at the time of this writing. This case should be classified as cleared.

The investigation determined that Patrick Marcelin is responsible for the murder of Destin Williams-Marcelin. Patrick Marcelin is deceased.
On (Thursday) September 4, 2014 at approximately 9:37am, Officers responded to a call for a cardiac arrest for a young child at 61 Devon Street, Roxbury. The (6) six year old victim Destin Marcelin-Williams was pronounced non-viable at the scene by Boston EMS. After further investigation and determination by the Chief Medical Examiner’s office the child victim’s cause of death was ruled a homicide in October 2014. Edgardo Clark has been arrested for the murder of Gerald Williamson.
Date: On October 16, 2014 at approximately 7:18pm, Gerald Williamson was stabbed and killed at 205 Bowdoin Street, Dorchester. Edgardo Clark was arrested and charged with the murder of Gerald Williamson. Date: January 9, 2014 at approximately 9:45pm Samuel Constant was stabbed and killed at 100 Margaretta Drive, Hyde Park. Officers arrested and charged William Earl with the murder of Samuel Constant. Date: February 7, 2014 at approximately 3:43pm Officers responded for a call to a person shot at 617 Morton Street, Mattapan. On arrival Officers observed the young child male victim Janmarcos Pena laying on his back in the apartment hallway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital and pronounced non viable by emergency physicians. Officers arrested and charged the victim’s brother Juanly Pena with the murder of Janmarcos Pena. Officers arrested and charged Marquis Smith with the murder of Daniel Taylor. Upon arrival officers found victim Mark Regan suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and non-viable. Date: Thursday, August 1, 2013 the body of an unknown deceased female victim was found at 800 Border Street, East Boston. After further investigation, the victim later identified as Sherry Bradley was ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner’s Office in 2014.
