Driving In Snowy or Icy Conditions

• In
  uncertain and unsafe road conditions, slow and cautious driving is the best
  prescription for safe driving.

• Remain
  aware of your surroundings and other vehicles to allow yourself ample time and
  space to respond in case of any sudden incidents on the road.

• When
  merging onto traffic, drive slowly and exercise ample caution.

• Avoid
  using cruise control and avoid abrupt steering maneuvers.

• Brake early and slowly. Avoid slamming on the brakes whenever possible.

• If your car has anti-lock brakes, press the pedal down firmly and hold it. If it does not have anti-lock brakes, gently pump the pedal.

• Remember that the faster you go, the longer it will take you to stop your vehicle. If you need to accelerate, do so slowly to avoid slipping and sliding.
