Firearm Recovered After a Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 6:55 PM, on Sunday, November 12, 2023, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Luis Malave, 26, of Boston, on firearm and drug related charges.

An officer was on patrol in the area of 472 Talbot Avenue when he observed a motor vehicle violate multiple auto laws. The officer with the assistance of responding officers made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and advised them of the traffic stop. Officers observed the passenger to keep moving his left hand into his pants pocket. Officers gave multiple requests to show his hands, but continued to hide his left hand. At this time officers requested the occupants to exit the vehicle.

After further investigation, officers recovered a firearm from the vehicle. The firearm was later determined to be a Ghost Gun with 4 rounds in the magazine. Officers also recovered multiple bags of marijuana.

Malave was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession with intent to distribute class D. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

The operator of the motor vehicle was cited for motor vehicle law violations and was promptly released from the scene.
