Investigation Update: This past week, members of the Fugitive Unit with the assistance of FBI Agents from Portland, Oregon and the Portland Police Department, arrested John Michael Irmer, 68, of Portland, Oregon. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant sought out of Boston Municipal Court for the Tuesday, October 30, 1979, Rape and Murder of Susan Marcia Rose, 24, of Boston.
Over the past month, FBI Agents from Portland, Oregon, worked together with officers assigned to the Boston Police Homicide unit with recent information linking John Irmer to the 1979 murder.
Irmer will be arraigned in the Boston Municipal Court on Monday, September 11, 2023.
