Investigation Update: At about 2:35 PM, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, Detectives assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) executed a search warrant in the area of 83 Maple Street. Officers recovered a Luger Tech 9 equipped with a silencer, and a fully loaded high capacity 30 round feeding device with 30 rounds of ammunition. Additional firearm related charges will be sought against Xavier Barrientos, 22, of Boston.
Earlier Arrest circumstances: At about 10:15 AM, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site warrant arrest of Xavier Barrientos, 22, of Boston, in the area of 1525 Commonwealth Avenue. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant sought out of Roxbury District Court for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Discharge of a Firearm within 500ft of a Building, and Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows: At about 6:19 AM, on Thursday, August 10, 2023, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area of 77 Maple Street for a report of shots fired. Officers recovered ballistic evidence on scene. After further investigation, detectives were able to identify the shooter as Xavier Barrientos, and sought out a warrant for his arrest.
