At about 7:53 PM, on Monday, August 7, 2023, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Rayquan Mason-Adams, 20, of Boston, on firearm related charges.
Officers were on patrol in the area 63 Norwell Street when they observed a motor vehicle without a front license plate traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers conducted a CJIS inquiry of the motor vehicle which revealed that the registration was cancelled and did not belong to the attached vehicle.
Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. Officers made contact with both occupants, and advised them to exit the vehicle as it would need to be towed. Officers observed the passenger to be pinning one of his arms against his body. Officers attempted to pat frisk the suspect, who immediately sprinted from officers. A foot pursuit ensued, and with the assistance of responding officers, the suspect was placed into handcuffs.
A Ballistic K-9 was requested to respond to the scene. A firearm was located from the suspect’s flight path and was later determined to be a Ghost Gun with one round in the chamber, twenty rounds in an extended magazine, and a laser sight affixed to it.
Mason-Adams was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Resisting Arrest He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
The Driver of the motor vehicle was cited for multiple Violations of Auto Laws.
