About 8:15 PM on Thursday, 06/16/2011, officers responded to assist Area B-2 (Roxbury) units with a radio call for a person with a gun at Blue Hill Avenue and Winthrop Street. A description of the suspect was broadcast over the radio and as officers approached the intersection, they observed a male standing on the corner of Blue Hill Avenue and Winthrop Street who matched the suspect\’s description. When the suspect observed the police cruisers, he began briskly walking down Winthrop Street and looked over his shoulder back towards the cruisers. When the suspect observed that officers were following him, he began to run. Officers observed the suspect attempting to manipulate something in his waistband. After catching up with the suspect, the suspect resisted officers and during a brief struggle, an officer recovered a black semi-automatic pistol from the suspects waistband. Officers handcuffed the suspect and searched him, recovering seven small plastic bags and one medium plastic bag of white, rock-like substance consistent with crack cocaine from the suspect\’s right front pants pocket.
