At about 4:30pm, on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) took a report from a victim, a sales representative, who stated that his laptop computer was stolen from his bag during a sales call at 741 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain (Blanchard\’s Liquors). According to the victim, he had set his bag aside while doing inventory at the location earlier in the day. Upon leaving the location, the victim discovered his laptop computer missing from his bag. Upon making the discovery, the victim called the store and explained the situation to the store manager. After reviewing in-store surveillance footage, the store manager observed an individual approach the victim’s bag, grab what looked to be a laptop computer and exit the store.
The next day, at about 2:40pm, on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) returned to 741 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain to investigate a person. On arrival, officers spoke to store employees who stated that an individual, seen stealing a laptop computer inside the store the day before, had returned to the store. When officers arrived, store employees were detaining the suspect. When asked about stealing the computer the day previous, the suspect admitted to doing so. Specifically, the suspect stated, “If the laptop is anywhere, it’s at my house.”
Officers arrested Gary Gelormini, 51, of Boston and charged him with Larceny (Over $250.00).
