Breaking In is One Thing – Being Able to Break Out Proves to be Another

At about 6:25am, on Saturday, April 30, 2011, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for person breaking into an apartment at 30 Hemenway Street. On arrival, officers observed the suspect still on scene being restrained by the lease holder’s boyfriend. According to the victim, she was asleep when she heard someone breaking in. Victim further states that when she went to investigate the noise, she observed the suspect break a screen, open a window and then climb into the apartment. At this point, the victim woke up her boyfriend. When the boyfriend confronted the suspect, a physical altercation ensued. But, by the time police arrived, the victim’s boyfriend had the suspect under control.
Officers arrested Michael Rak, 19, of Connecticut and charged him with Breaking & Entering (Nighttime).
