Man With Gun Arrested in Dorchester

At about 8:44pm, on Thursday, April 28, 2011, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) and members of the Youth Violence Strike Force received information relative to an individual in possession of an illegal firearm. Officers ascertained intelligence that stated the individual with the firearm could be located in the area of Dorchester Ave and Charles Street. Upon responding to the area, officers soon   observed an individual who matched the description of the suspect. While conducting surveillance on the suspect, officers observed the individual enter a motor vehicle. As a result, officers proceeded to follow the car. While following behind the car, officers observed the motor vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment and stopped the car.
Upon approaching the car, officers observed three individuals inside the vehicle. However, given the fact that the rear windows were heavily tinted and visibility of the rear passenger severely limited, officers asked the passenger sitting in the backseat to roll down his window. The passenger, however, refused to do so. Fearing the presence of a firearm, officers ordered the suspect to exit the vehicle. A pat frisk of the suspect enabled officers to feel and take possession of a firearm.

Officers arrested Raheem Ramirez, 18, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and the Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
