About 6:06pm, on Thursday, April 21, 2011, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol when they observed a black male urinating in the street in the area of 11 Belden Street in Dorchester. Officers noted that the suspect was making no effort to hide the fact that he was urinating in the middle of the street. Officers further noted the presence of young children in the immediate area. When the suspect saw police approaching, he quickly zipped up his pants and attempted to enter the back seat of nearby motor vehicle. Officers were able to detain him before he could enter the car.
While detaining the suspect, officers observed a pooling of urine on the street. As officers were questioning the suspect, the operator of the car interrupted and stated, “Give him a break. He’s a working man.” To which, the officers replied, “Why would you allow your friend to urinate in the middle of the street?” In reply to the question, the operator of the car stated, “We didn’t know he was gonna go right there, we thought he would go in the woods.”
Officers arrested Jonathan Matchett, 24, of Boston and charged him with Open & Gross Lewdness.
