At about 5:45pm, on Sunday, April 17, 2011, officers from Area E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery at 4959 Washington Street (Eastland Motors). On arrival, officers spoke to store employees who stated that two suspects entered the store, displayed firearms and, after taking an undisclosed amount of money, fled the store on foot. Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspects over the police radio. The suspects were described as two black males in their early to mid-twenties. One was wearing a purple hoodie and blue jeans, the other wearing a green jacket and blue jeans. In short time, officers observed two individuals who looked like the suspects walking out of a wooded area in the area of 18 Willet Street. When officers attempted to stop the individuals, one stopped while the other took off on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to catch up to and stop the 2nd suspect.
While both suspects were being detained, witnesses were brought to the scene for identification purposes. Once on scene, witnesses were able to positively identify one of the suspects.
A search of the woods, retracing the suspect’s steps, enabled officers to see and take possession of discarded clothing similar to the clothing worn by the suspects during the robbery.
Officers arrested Jason Randall, 23, of Randolph and charged him with Armed Robbery. The incident will be further investigated by Area E-5 detectives.
