At about 6:15pm, on Sunday, April 10, 2011, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) were on patrol in the area of Norfolk and Morton Streets when they observed two individuals riding a motorcycle without wearing helmets. Seeing this, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) in an effort to stop the motorcycle. However, instead of stopping, the operator of the motorcycle attempted to flee the area. While following behind the motorcycle, officers observed the suspects ditch the bike in an effort to escape on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to catch up to and apprehend both suspects.
While inspecting the motorcycle, officers discovered damage to the bike’s ignition and were able to confirm that the motorcycle had been stolen.
Officers arrested two 15 year-old males from Boston and charged both with Receiving Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest and Refusal to Submit to a Police Officer.
The operator was additionally charged with Operating without a License.
Both were cited for equipment violations (No Helmets).
