At about 3:19am, on Sunday, April 10, 2011, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a man breaking into a car in the area of 259 E. 8th Street in South Boston. On arrival, officers observed a male, later identified as the suspect, standing in the street. Officers spoke to the suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated, and who stated that he just wanted to go home. The suspect then walked over to a white motor vehicle. When asked if he owned the car, the suspect nodded and then produced or pulled out a small can opener in his efforts to gain entry to the car.
While still on scene, officers located the owner of the white car who stated that he heard his car alarm go off and when he looked outside he observed the suspect sitting in his car. Victim further states that when he went outside to confront the suspect, the suspect exited the car and offered the victim a cigarette. When the victim saw the person that officers were detaining, the victim stated, “That’s him.”
Officers arrested Jesse Rivera, 22, of Boston and charged him Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle at Night.
