At about 1:28pm, on Thursday, April 7, 2011, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of 35 Brookford Street in Roxbury. Given the close proximity of the call to a school in the area (the Winthrop Elementary School), that school was placed in Safe Mode for safety and precautionary reasons until the call could be fully and completely investigated. Once on scene, officers were unable to locate or find any ballistic evidence. No injuries were reported or suspects found. The school was then taken out of Safe Mode.
