BREAKING INTO AN OCCUPIED CAR NEVER A SMART THING

At about 4:00pm, on Friday, March 18, 2011, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a call for a person attempting to break into an occupied motor vehicle in the area of Boylston and Dartmouth Streets. Officers spoke to the owner of the car who stated that he was sitting in his car when the suspect walked up to his motor vehicle, pulled out a couple of tools and attempted to break in. According the victim, the suspect must not have the seen the victim inside the car because as soon as he did, the suspect took off. The victim watched the suspect enter a red motor vehicle and drive off. 
Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspect’s vehicle over the police radio. In short time, officers located and stopped the vehicle. A check of the operator’s driving status through the Registry of Motor Vehicles showed the operator to have a suspended license. A search of the suspect’s vehicle enabled officers to see and seize a pry bar and long flat head screwdriver.  

Officers arrested Darragh Connolly, 39, of Watertown and charged him with Operating without a License (Suspended), Possession of Burglarious Tools and Attempt to Commit a Crime.
