About 09:39pm, on Saturday, March 19, 2011, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of 262 Norwell Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that she was walking alone down the street when she observed a green car pull over and stop. Once stopped, two occupants jumped out of the car, approached the victim and demanded money. The victim further stated that one of the suspects showed a knife. After a brief struggle, one in which the victim’s finger was cut, the suspects were able to make off with the victim’s purse.
Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspects, as well as, their motor vehicle over all police frequencies. In short time, officers observed a car that matched the description of the suspect’s car. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. After the car was stopped, the victim was transported to the scene for identification purposes. Upon seeing the suspects, the victim was able to positively identify two of the three as the individuals who assailed her. Witnesses were able to identify the operator of the vehicle.
Officers arrested Steven Ulysse, 21, of Boston, Gregory Phillips, 17, of Boston, a 16 year-old male from Boston and charged all three with Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon and Armed Robbery.
