POLICE INVESTIGATE OIL SPILL IN ROXBURY

At about 12:00pm, on Sunday, March 13, 2011, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a hazmat incident in the area of 7 Sachem Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that someone had placed an outdoor garden hose into the fill pipe used to deliver the home’s heating oil. In addition to putting the hose into the fill pipe, the victim states that the hose was left turned on. As a result, water poured into the oil tank causing the tank to fill and overflow. The Boston Fire Department’s Hazmat Team responded and contained the scene.

The Boston Police Department is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives assigned to Area B-2 (Roxbury) at (617) 343-4275.
