Two Stolen Car Suspects Arrested after Hitting Pedestrian and Occupied Cars

This morning around 11:25AM, an officer from B-2 (Roxbury) was on patrol in the Egleston Square area when a motor vehicle was observed with a disfigured plate. The officer followed behind the car without lights or sirens while running the plate on the Mobile Data Terminal. At about the intersection of Columbus Ave. and Dimock St. officers discovered the car was stolen and almost simultaneously as officers activated their lights and sirens, the suspect motor vehicle took off, making a right turn onto Dimock Street.

As officers made their way up Dimock Street, an individual was observed hobbling on the side of the road and officers rightfully indicated that this individual may have been hit by the suspect vehicle and stopped to render assistance.

The suspect motor vehicle continued up Dimock St. and then made a right turn onto Cobden St. where all officers were directed to stop following the suspect car by a Supervisor as it had gone done a one way street in the wrong direction. The suspect motor vehicle apparently continued onto Walnut Ave. where it hit an occupied motor vehicle and was observed by a detail officer. The detail officer informed Operations of the stolen car, the fact that it had hit a car and its direction of travel.  The suspect motor vehicle continued up Walnut Ave. to Seaver Street where it hit another motor vehicle and became disabled.  At this point the two suspects jumped out of the car and took off on foot. Officers responded to the location, pursued the suspects and were able to successfully catch and place them under arrest.

The driver suspect, Michael Johnson, 39 of Jamaica Plain was arrested and charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop for Police, Driving to Endanger, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Personal Injury, and Operating after Revocation or Suspension and his passenger, Stedmon Hill, 37 of Jamaica Plain was charged with Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle. In addition to the above charges, suspect Johnson will face a number of civil motor vehicle infractions.
