At about 3:22am, on Friday, March 4, 2011, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a person screaming in the area of 198 Beacon Street. On arrival, officers observed an individual attempting to enter a residence by pulling and pushing aggressively on the door knob. Officers also noticed two broken pots: one at the top of the stairs, the other at the bottom. Both pots appeared to be recently broken given the fact that the contents of both were spilled and strewn about the stairs and sidewalk. When asked about the broken pots, the suspect told officers that he may have accidentally knocked the pots over. When asked what he was doing in the area, the suspect stated he was trying to visit a friend. When asked to provide the name of the person he was trying to visit, the suspect provided several different names. Officers also noted that the suspect appeared to be intoxicated.
Officers arrested Justin Ligus, 25, of Springfield and charged him with the Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property and Disturbing the Peace.
