At about 9:15am, on Monday, February 21, 2011, officer from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call to investigate the premise at 264 Newbury Street (Bottega Fiorentina Restaurant) for the report of a possible break in. On arrival, officers noted damage to the front door of the establishment. Officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they first observed the broken door when passing by the store front. Upon entering the restaurant, officers observed the cash register to be wide open with restaurant receipts strewn about the floor. An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the restaurant. Store owners say they closed restaurant at 11:00pm the night previous.
