At about 1:53pm, on Thursday, February 17, 2011, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) received a radio call for an unarmed robbery in the area of Kneeland and Hudson Streets. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that he was walking along Kneeland Street when the suspect approached, threatened him with physical harm and demanded money. According to the victim, the suspect fled on foot after he gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money.
Officers broadcast a description of the suspect over the police radio, however, a search of the area for the suspect proved unsuccessful.
Several hours later, at about 9:00pm, the victim observed the same suspect in the area of Harrison Ave and Travel Street. Officers responded to that location and observed the suspect. After the suspect was positively identified by the victim, officers arrested Scott Steverding, 28, of Boston and charged him with Unarmed Robbery.
