WANTED: HOMICIDE DETECTIVES SEEKING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE TO IDENTIFY SUSPECT IN SURVEILLANCE VIDEO (SEE VIDEO ATTACHED)

Homicide detectives are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect believed to be connected to the December shooting death of 21-year-old Demetrius Blocker. Investigators are releasing surveillance video which captures the suspect immediately following the incident.

On December 16, 2010 at approximately 4:30pm, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area of 48 Horadan Way for as person shot.

On arrival, officers located the victim, Demetrius Blocker, suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s). Mr. Blocker was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital suffering from life threatening injuries. Soon thereafter, Mr. Blocker succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced.

At this time, the investigation has revealed that Mr. Blocker was in the rear parking area of 48 Horadan Way while waiting for a relative. As he waited by a green jeep that was parked in the area, an unknown Black or Hispanic male approached Mr. Blocker and fired several shots which struck and killed him.

Detectives have learned that the suspect then fled out onto Horadan Way. He ran though the passage ways between buildings out onto McGreevey Way across Saint Alphonsus Street to Longwood Avenue to Huntington Avenue. The suspect goes out of view after crossing Huntington Avenue going right in the Trolly Stop.

The Boston Police Homicide Unit is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident and need to identify the suspect pictured on the video. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact the Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.

The suspect can be seen from several angles in the video below. He is first seen walking toward the camera in a black jacket with a fur trim. He is then seen walking away from the camera toward the crosswalk. He is last seen standing at the crosswalk and raising the hood to his jacket.
