At about 2:44am, on Friday, February 4, 2011, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for a larceny in progress at 34 Harvard Ave (the Draft Bar). On arrival, officers spoke to two victims, one a patron of the bar; the other a disc jockey working at the bar. According to witnesses, a white female dressed in a Celtics jersey was seen stealing a bag belonging to the DJ and a cell phone belonging to the patron. According to the DJ, his bag contained among other things, an Apple MacBook and a pair of Sony Headphones. Witnesses further stated that the suspect, after stealing the items, hastily exited the bar and entered a taxi. Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspect over the police radio.
In short time, responding officers observed a white female wearing a Celtics jersey exit a taxi in the area of 160 Brighton Ave. Officers also noted that the suspect was carrying a black backpack. When asked how she came to possess the backpack, the suspect stated, “I just took it to be nice. I was going to give it back.” A search of the backpack and the suspect enabled officers to locate the items belonging to the DJ and the patron.
