“I WOULDN’T BE STEALING IF I WAS WORKING”

At about 5:18am, on Saturday, February 5, 2011, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a person breaking into cars in the area of E 5th and I Streets. According to the caller, the suspect seen breaking into cars was a white male, carrying a trash bag and wearing a white or gray hooded sweatshirt. A search of the area enabled officers to locate an individual who matched the description of the suspect. However, when officers approached the suspect, the suspect took off running. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to stop the suspect.

A search of the suspect enabled officers to see and seize two GPS devices, a large amount of change and, oddly enough, a large ceramic lawn frog. While officers were still on scene, a witness approached and informed officers that the ceramic frog had been stolen off a nearby front porch.

Officers arrested Justin Davidson, 24, of South Boston and charged him with Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle (Nighttime), Receiving Stolen Property and Larceny (Over $250.00).

While the suspect was being booked, the booking officer asked the suspect what he did for work. To which, the suspect replied, “\”I wouldn\’t be stealing if I was working.\”
