DETECTIVES RELEASE ADDITIONAL SURVEILLANCE VIDEO OF FATAL HIT AND RUN INCIDENT IN ROXBURY

Investigators Are Seeking a Grey Hyundai Santa Fe with Front-End Damage

Homicide investigators continue to aggressively search for the person responsible for the fatal hit and run incident which killed recent Northeastern University graduate, Andrew Prior. Detectives are releasing additional surveillance video of the suspect vehicle involved in a  fatal hit and run incident which claimed the life of 24 year old Andrew Prior of Boston (originally from Syracuse, New York). Andrew was struck and killed on November 14th by a speeding motorist driving a grey Hyundai Santa Fe.

The surveillance video includes images of two vehicles. The suspect vehicle is the second vehicle pictured. Police would also be interested in speaking to the occupant(s) of the first vehicle pictured as that operator may also have helpful information.

Police are asking the community to be on the lookout for a Hyundai Santa Fe, 2001 to 2006 model and either a metallic charcoal grey or silver in color. The surveillance video also shows that this particular Hyundai Santa Fe has a sunroof and roof rack. The video indicates that there is at least one occupant inside the vehicle, not two as originally believed.

As is apparent in the video, the suspect vehicle sustained significant front-end damage. Detectives believe that the Hyundai Santa Fe has heavy front-end damage to the front right tire and headlight. Detectives are asking Auto Body shops to be vigilant and contact authorities if they receive a customer seeking repairs to this type of vehicle.

On November 14, 2010 around 11:43pm, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the intersection of Tremont and Terrace Streets for a pedestrian struck.

On arrival, officers located Andrew Prior who was unresponsive and being treated by EMS. Mr. Prior was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital suffering life threatening injuries where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

At this time, the investigation indicates that the victim was struck while on a scooter on Tremont Street near the corner of Columbus Ave outside of the Roxbury Crossing T station. The suspect vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed when he struck Mr. Prior and continued on Tremont towards Brigham Circle.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have information on this vehicle or the incident to please come forward. Boston Police Homicide detectives are actively investigating the facts and circumstances of this tragic incident and ask anyone with information to contact them at (617) 343-4470. Individuals wishing to provide information anonymously can do so by calling the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS or texting ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463).
