Armed Robbery Suspect Doesn’t Make it Far “On the Run”

 Early this morning around 12:47AM, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested suspect, Marquis J. Robinson, 21 of Dorchester and charged him with Unarmed Robbery.

Officers initially responded to the area of Hampden and Georges Streets for a robbery in progress.  On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who reported that he had just been robbed of his I-Pod and headphone. The victim stated that he was walking on Hampden St. when he noticed the suspect on the opposite side of the street waving his arm trying to get his attention. The victim slowed down and the suspect walked over to his side of the street and asked him where he was from. The victim answered the suspect stating “up the street” when the suspect exclaimed, “I like your I-Pod, give it to me!” The victim initially said no then the suspect reached his hand under his jacket. The victim, fearing that the suspect may be armed, handed over to the suspect his I-Pod and headphones.

Officers then canvassed the area in hopes of locating the suspect. While in the area of Massachusetts Ave. officers observed someone matching the suspect description at the Mobil “On the Run” Gas Station. Officers entered the store the store and conducted a threshold inquiry of the individual matching suspect description. A pat frisk was conducted which resulted in officers recovering an I-Pod. Upon finding the I-Pod from the suspect, he immediately told officers, “That’s mine!”

The suspect was detained pending a bring-back and possible identification by the victim. The victim was brought to the gas station and as soon as he saw the victim exclaimed, “That’s him, that’s definitely him! The suspect was arrested and the I-Pod recovered from the suspect along with the victim’s headphones.
