Early this morning, Saturday, January 15, 2011, officers from District A-7 (East Boston) responded to the area of 354 Sumner St. for a robbery in progress.
On scene, officers spoke to the victim who reported that a suspect wearing a black parka just attacked her in an attempt to rob her. The victim stated to officers that she got out her car and observed a light skinned Hispanic male standing in front of 349 Sumner Street. The victim further reported to officers as she made her way towards Webster Ave. the suspect came up from behind her and wrestled her to the ground. The victim started screaming and successfully fended off the suspect who fled from the scene down Webster Ave. towards Webster Street.
Officers immediately followed the path that the suspect had taken while other officers circled the area. About a block away from the scene of the incident, officers observed an individual matching the suspect description and stopped him. The suspect was returned to the scene and the victim positively identified him as the person who had attacked her exclaiming, “That’s him, that’s him!”
The suspect, Juan C. Tejada, 17 of East Boston was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Rob.
