STATEMENT BY POLICE COMMISSIONER ED DAVIS

STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER DAVIS ON THE CHANGES MADE TO THE PAROLE BOARD AND THE NAMING OF JOSH WALL AS INTERIM DIRECTOR

“The decision to alter and enhance the makeup of the Parole Board is one endorsed and supported by law enforcement officials and officers across the commonwealth. When a person is convicted and charged with three life sentences, the public has a right to assume and expect that the jail time sentenced will translate into jail time served. The community deserves truth in sentencing. In the case of Domenic Cinelli, justice was not well served and a police officer was left unprotected. When something is broken and in need of repair, change isn’t only right, but in this case, essential. The naming of Josh Wall, as interim director, is a smart choice. His work and experience as First Assistant to the District Attorney should serve both him and the public well as he goes about the business of remaking and rehabbing the reputation of the Massachusetts Parole Board.”
