IF THE BOOT FITS, YOU CAN’T ACQUIT

At about 11:05pm, Tuesday, December 28, 2010, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress at 18 Pleasant Street. While en route to the call, officers learned that the suspect was in the rear of the location attempting to kick in the back door of the home. On arrival, officers responded to the rear of the location and observed the victim, standing on a 2nd story porch, pointing in the direction of the suspect who was attempting to make good his escape. Officers were able to catch up to and stop the suspect. With the suspect stopped, officers noted that the suspect was wearing only one boot. At this point, the victim, who was still standing on the rear porch, threw down a boot that matched the one the suspect was wearing. Efforts to speak to the suspect were greatly hindered due to the fact that the suspect appeared to be heavily inebriated.

Officers spoke to the victim who stated that he was in his apartment on the 2nd floor when he heard someone kick in the back door on the 1st floor. In short time, the victim says someone was attempting to kick in his door. According to the victim, the suspect, as he continued to kick the door, kept saying, “I’m coming to get you, Doug!!!” Apparently, unbeknownst to the suspect, the victim’s name was not Doug and no one by that name lived in the apartment.

According to the victim, the suspect kicked a hole in his door. The victim says when he saw the suspect’s right foot come through the door, he grabbed the suspect’s foot and, in doing so, was able to pull the suspect’s right boot off.

Officers arrested Matthew Frye, 32, of West Newbury and charged him with Unarmed Breaking & Entering (Night).
