At about 9:35am, on Monday, December 27, 2010, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) were on patrol when officers observed a motor vehicle travelling along Western Ave with snow obstructing the operator’s ability to operate safely. Specifically, officers observed snow covering the vehicle’s side and rear windows, as well as, the vehicle’s license plate. Given the limited vision and unsafe driving condition, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car.
When officers asked the operator to produce his license and registration, the operator stated that he did not have one. A check of the vehicle’s registration through the Registry of Motor Vehicles showed the registration to be cancelled.
Officers arrested Manuel Mena, 30, of Boston and charged him with Operating without a License.
