Last night around 11:05PM, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for an assault in progress. Officers, en route, were advised that the victim reported that he was attached with a knife by three males while at 158 Quincy Street. The victim went on to provide officers with the name of Rodney as being the primary assailant.
Officers arrived at the scene and there located three males, one of whom was named Rodney. Officers pat frisked the three suspects and located a black handled knife on the main suspect who had been identified as Rodney.
Officers then responded to the victim who reported that he had gone to his child’s mother’s house and while there found out that she was romantically involved with the male identified as Rodney. The stated that he started putting together his belongings to leave when he was confronted by the suspect and his two friends who assaulted him by punching and throwing him to the ground. Per the victim, the suspects continued to punch him after throwing him to the ground and dragging him through the snow with the suspect Rodney at one point pulling out a knife and threatening him by staying, “I should kill you!”
The victim was returned to the location of the suspects and there positively identified suspects, Rodney Simmons, 19 of Roxbury, Clayton Knight, 23 of Mattapan and Quamaine Minnifield, 21 of Brockton as the ones who assaulted him. The suspects were arrested and charged with Assault and Battery, and Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
