BOSTON POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT AT RUGGLES AND HUNTINGTON AVENUE

The Boston Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident which occurred this morning at Ruggles and Huntington Avenue in Roxbury.

On December 21, 2010 at 8:57am officers responded to the above location for an accident involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she was soon pronounced deceased as a result of the injuries sustained. The victim has since been identified as 50 year old Simin Arad of Boston.

At the accident scene, officers observed a shuttle bus parked on Ruggles just past Huntington Ave. Witnesses stated that they were on the bus passing through a green light when a female on the sidewalk walked in front of the bus. The driver attempted to stop but struck the victim. The bus driver was upset and shaken. He was transported to Beth Israel Hospital.

The Homicide Unit and Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating this incident. No further details are available at this time.
