Christmas Shopping (without Paying) Lands suspect in Jail

Around 1:45PM yesterday afternoon, officers from District C-6 (South Boston) while working in the South Bay mall area as a walking beat responded to a radio call for assistance at the Best Buy Store.

On arrival, officers learned that a male shoplifter had just run out of the store and took off in a car at a high rate of speed heading in the direction of the Stop & Shop and Massachusetts Avenue.  The officer observed the suspect car being driven at a high rate of speed through the densely occupied lot cutting off other cars, with pedestrians having to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit by the suspect. The walking beat officer jumped in a marked cruiser and with lights and sirens and successfully blocked off the suspect’s car in front of the Stop & Shop.

There, the suspect, Oscar Colon, 30 of Roxbury was ordered out of the car and placed under arrest. The suspect was charged with Shoplifting over $200 for the theft of a Sony Playstation 3, Driving to Endanger, and Driving with a suspended License.
