Armed Robbery Suspects Caught on the MBTA

Yesterday, Wednesday, December 8, 2010 around 11:37AM, officers from District E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to the area of 7 Spring St. for a robbery in progress.

On arrival, officers located the victim and he reported to officers that he had just been robbed of his cell Blackberry and I-Phone by a white male wearing a winter hat, gray jacket and reading glasses who fled the scene with a black male wearing a red jacket. The victim went on to tell officers that the suspect walked up to him and stated, Come over here come over here, give me your stuff\” and then took from him his blackberry phone and his ipod 4 phone from him. Suspect and his companion then fled toward Centre Street.  Officers were then further advised by the 911 dispatcher that the suspects may have boarded an MBTA bus heading outbound on Centre Street. Officers were then informed by a witness that he had observed three individuals, two of whom matched the suspects’ descriptions, flag down an MBTA bus near the West Roxbury library and get on the bus.

Two detail officers working nearby heard the broadcast of the incident and stopped the MBTA bus at the intersection of Centre and Willow Streets. There, officers boarded the bus and observed two individuals matching the suspects’ description. Officers spoke to the two individuals who appeared to be nervous and distracted. The third individual that had been observed with the suspects told officers that the suspects had told him that they had taken some cell phones and were planning on going to downtown crossing and had promised him $5 if he went with them.

A pat frisk of the described suspects revealed one of the two to be in possession of the reported stolen cell phones. A bring back of the suspects resulted in a positive identification of the suspects and the cell phones.  The two suspects, Julio M. Gonzalez, 17 of Dorchester and David J. Mosley-Lott, 17 of Roxbury were arrested and charged with Unarmed Robbery.
