UPDATE: B & E Suspect Arrested in South Boston: Detectives Secure Warrant for Weekend B&E and Car-jacking

On November 9, 2010 at approximately 10:50pm, officers arrested Joseph Ghella, 45, of South Boston on charges that include Unarmed Breaking and Entering, Night and numerous outstanding warrants from Lynn District Court.

Today detectives sought and were granted an additional arrest warrant out of Dorchester District Court charging Ghella with Breaking & Entering, Assault by Means Dangerous Weapon, Carjacking, Larceny of Motor Vehicle and Assault and Battery.  After a thorough investigation, Ghella was also identified as the person responsible for a B&E incident on Howes Street (Dorchester) and subsequent limo car-jacking (out front Blessed Mother Teresa Church) which occurred on November 6, 2010.

Last night at about 10:50pm, officers responded to a radio call for a B&E in progress on Orton Marotta Way in South Boston. On arrival, officers met with a victim who stated that she had left her apartment earlier in the evening and had left her window open. She returned to see her window closed and the shade down.

Officers were able to gain entrance to the apartment and located the suspect still inside. At that time, officers placed Joseph Ghella under arrest.

Ghella, who is currently being held on bail, will face arraignment on the new charges at a later date.
