At about 11:50pm, on Saturday, November 6, 2010, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a large fight in the area of the Greatest Bar. While en route to the call, officers learned of a large group gathering in front of a parking lot in the area of 136 Blackstone Street. On arrival, officers spoke to an individual who stated that he and his friends had been involved in an altercation with another group of males and had chased them into the garage because one of them allegedly assaulted his girlfriend. According to the individual, one of the suspects punched his girlfriend in the face, however, officers were unable to neither locate the girlfriend nor confirm her injury. Further, officers noted and observed that two members of the group had sustained injuries received in the altercation. It was confirmed that one of the victims had suffered a non-life threatening stab wound while a second individual suffered a non-life threatening wound inflicted by a BB gun.
While officers were talking to group, one of the victims pointed to a car attempting to leave the garage and stated, “Those are the dudes right there.” At this point, offices stopped the suspect’s car to further investigate the incident. When officers approached the car, one of the occupants jumped out of the car and began yelling at the officers.
In addition to the suspect already out of the car, officers ordered two other suspects to exit the motor vehicle. Once outside the car, all three suspects were arrested.
Officers arrested Nick Johnson, 25, of Malden, Derek Lessard, 23, of Malden and Anthony Piwinski, 23, of Winthrop and charged all three with Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
