At approximately 6:20PM last night, officers from the District C-11 Drug Control Unit arrested suspect, Kevin R. Carter, 22 of Quincy and charged him with Receiving Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest and an outstanding warrant for a Parole Violation.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Leeds St. and Dorchester Ave. stopped at a red light when the suspect walked up to their car carrying a bag and stated, “Hey! Do you want to buy some clothes from Old Navy?” The officers from the DCU declined the offer and as the suspect walked away, they could see through the bag that the shirts were in and observed that the shirts still had the merchandise tag on them consistent with stolen merchandise.
The suspect walked into a nearby bar and when he came out, officers approached the suspect and identified their station. The suspect admitted to stealing the shirts at an Old Navy store downtown and provided officers with a name. Officers checked the name but were unable to confirm it. Another officer responded to the scene who is known to the suspect and immediately upon seeing this officer the suspect pushed officers and attempted to flee. The suspect, in his attempt to flee, ran head on into a parked car and was caught by officers but not before he struggled with officers.
