BPD Harbor Patrol Officers Rescue Boater from Water after Boat Is Engulfed in Fire

This morning around 11:03AM, officers from the Boston Harbor patrol Unit responded to the area of Long Island for a transmission from a sport fishing vessel that the vessel was on fire.

Officers responded to the area of Long Island near Lovell’s Island and there observed a twenty eight (28) foot boat engulfed in flames. Officers confirmed that there was only one occupant of the boat and rescued him from the water putting him on their patrol safe-boat. The victim had apparently jumped into the water when his vessel had become engulfed in flames.

The victim was transported to shore where he was transported to Tufts Medical Center for medical evaluation
