2^nd Annual Boston PAL Grand Prix a HUGE Success!!!

On Saturday, October 9, 2010, the Boston Police Athletic League held its 2^nd Annual Boston PAL Grand Prix and if you were in the area of City Hall this past weekend, you more than likely heard the roar of the engines and screeching of tires as tiny go-cart race cars put the pedal to the metal all in support of a great cause: the Boston Police Athletic League (PAL). All the proceeds from this year’s big event, once again, went to make a difference in the lives of young people throughout the city. And, like last year, this year’s big race was well run and well attended. Whether you were a driver, sponsor, contributor, volunteer or spectator, Boston PAL would like to thank everybody who turned out at this year’s Grand Prix.

Through PAL, an independent non-profit organization created in 1985, Boston Police officers and young people have been able to partake and participate in athletic, social, and educational activities all intended to develop positive and trusting relationships between cops and kids. Said Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, “Boston PAL has been doing great work with young people in our city for years. When it comes to building and enhancing the relationship between officers in our department and kids in our communities, the Police Athletic League has a proven track record of success and support and for that we’re grateful.”    

PAL\’s youth programs, like the Junior Police Academy, are designed to help young people develop self-esteem, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging, as they work hard to make a difference in their school and neighborhood communities.
