At about 1:44am, on Sunday, September 26, 2010, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) were on patrol when they observed what appeared to be a fight in the area of 1610 Blue Hill Ave. In the eyes of the officers, it looked as if two individuals were ganging up on one. As officers got closer, the two individuals, upon seeing the approaching officers, stopped what they were doing and took off on foot. Officers spoke to the victim who stated that he was walking home when two black males ran up on him and demanded money. Victim further stated that the suspects ran through his pockets and took his cell phone and various other items. According to the victim, one of the suspects kept gesturing with an object in his pocket in such a way as if to suggest he was in possession of a weapon. Officers, while pursuing the suspects on foot, promptly broadcast a description and direction of flight of the suspects over the police radio. In short time, officers were able to overtake and take into custody the two suspects.
A search of the suspects enabled officers to locate and take possession of a replica firearm and a knife. Further, officers were able to locate personal papers in the name of the victim.
Officers arrested Marquis Jones, 21, of Boston and Andre Raper, 17, of Boston and charged both with Armed Robbery.
