Around 12:30AM today, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the intersection of Blue Hill Ave. and Quincy St. for an armed robbery attempt.
On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who reported to officers that a suspect just tried to rob him with a knife for his I-Pod. The victim told officers that he was walking and listening to his music when he noticed the suspect saying something to him. The victim, thinking that the suspect was asking him for directions, removed his headphones and heard the suspect exclaim, “Let me see that I-Pod!” observed the suspect with a knife pointed in his direction. The victim then ran across the street to a gas station where there were a lot of people and called 911 at which point the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle.
Officers placed the victim in their cruiser and droved around looking for the suspect. As officers drove up Warren Street from Quincy Street, the victim saw the suspect and immediately exclaimed, “That’s him!” The suspect was stopped after the suspect positively identified him and a knife matching the one described by the victim was recovered from the suspect.
The suspect, Leo Janvier, 19 of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Intent to Rob while Armed and Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon. After being placed under arrest, the suspect was subsequently charged with Possession of Class B, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B within a School Zone for drugs he discarded in the back of the cruiser while being transported to the district station for booking.
